At Gutsy, our mission is simple: to pamper your gut microbiome and your taste buds.
And the best way we've found to do that is with fermented drinks, made only from whole,
organic ingredients, free from industrial toxins.


No preservatives. No flavourings. No additives.
Just fruits, plants, roots, herbs — and fermentation that works for your well-being.

We deeply believe that nature already has everything we need.
And because a healthier world starts with gutsy choices, we donate 1% of our sales to organisations
working to improve the health of people and the planet.

The discovery

Gutsy's journey began in 2015 in Nicaragua on a surf trip, when co-founder Pierrich Picard discovered kombucha at a small beachside café. The café's owner, Robert, passed on his passion for this fermented beverage. Back in Montreal, disappointed that he couldn't find the same exquisite taste he'd discovered in Nicaragua, Pierrich decided to found Gutsy in 2017.

The creation

With the goal of creating the ultimate kombucha, Pierrich teamed up with Mélanie Marois, naturopath and herbalist, to create the first kombucha on the market energized by plants. Today, the Gutsy family brews 8 flavours of kombucha, 2 of them sugar-free. Gutsy is now distributed in over 1000 stores (Quebec and Ontario) and is the 2nd largest kombucha producer in Quebec!

OUR BEGINNINGS ON TAP

Since we started, our goal has always been to minimise our ecological footprint. As recycling in Quebec was deficient, we decided to initially exclusively offer our kombucha on tap and install filling stations in stores. We built some great relationships on the way and we want to thank our retailers for believing in our crazy idea of putting taps in their zero-waste stores. They’ve helped us throughout this process and we’re thankful. Now we’re proud to say we’re the largest on tap kombucha producer in Quebec.

ALSO AVAILABLE IN CANS

During our initial years, we often received a demand for a smaller and on-the-go format. Searching for the best fit for what we believe in, we decided that cans was the best format for the product and the environment. Simply put, it provides a more stable environment for our kombucha and is more likely to be recycled and more recyclable compared to glass bottles. Helping us proving the same great taste that our client have been used to on tap.

Gutsy's Kombucha+

From the very start, it was important to us to offer a healthy and innovative beverage, so we incorporated the power of plants and herbs into our kombuchas, creating KOMBUCHA+. Why “+”? Because in our kombucha+, you'll find: more herbs, more fruits, moreflavours, more bubbles and more of EVERYTHING that is good for you and your belly!
